Lydia is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a CMALT holder and assessor and she sits on the Editorial Board of both Interactive Learning Environments and Higher Education Skills and Work Based Learning. Her first degree is a BA Education Studies & Geography with Mathematics, she holds a PGCE and has an MA in Education and is currently studying for an EdD at The University of Liverpool in a global online programme considering educational leadership, pedagogy and international education .
Lydia Arnold is a currently work-based learning developer and tutor at Harper Adams University College. Lydia has particular interest in:
- enhancing work-based learning through the use of technology
- creative assessment for work-based learners
- curriculum design for work-based learners (bespoke, inquiry led and process driven)
- personalised learning for HE
- developing meta-learning
Lydia has thirteen years of experience of working in work-based learning and e-learning. She has led and been involved in:
- Accreditation, validation and innovative curriculum design (including a cross institutional framework for work-based learners, ‘wrapper modules’ and online blends).
- The development of assessment approaches suitable for work-based learners.
- Designing and implementing modules, activities and assessment for learners in workplace or volunteering contexts.
- The design and build of learning resources for personal development online for a consistent student experience and the enhancement of classroom contact time.
- The validation, design and creation of postgraduate professional studies programmes for inquiry based learners, learning online in a community of inquiry.
- Successful learning partnerships for accredited training with private training providers, large companies and a major international charity.
- Staff development in relation to creative curriculum and pedagogy as well as technology enhanced learning.
- Facilitating online learning at post-graduate level.
- The development of inter-professional online communities of inquiry for health professionals.
- Articulating and disseminating innovative practice through conferences, papers and now a book chapter.
